Purpose of United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

What?

Groups of women who want to know God through a creative, supportive fellowship

Why?

  • To serve the church and their community
  • To learn about our world and women’s lives
  • To contribute to mission ministries through UMW

General Group Meetings

Luncheon Meetings:

Second Tuesdays, 9:43am-12:30pm, in MacMurdo Hall--January, March, May, July, September, November, December

Second Saturdays, 9:30-11:30am, in Grace Café--February October

Evening Meeting:

Second Tuesday in April, 7:00-9:00pm in MacMurdo Hall

Monthly Activity Groups

There is a group for everyone. You are welcome to participate in as many groups as you like.

Ankh  varied programs and activities, such as potlucks, speakers and service projects. (4th Tuesday, 6:45pm, various locations)

Bible Study  uses a selected guide to learn about books in the Bible. (3rd Tuesday, 10:00am, Room E-5)

Calexico  presents varied programs in members’ homes about community and faith. (4th Tuesday, 9:45am, homes)

Cards and Games for Projects  meets for bridge, Mexican Train Dominoes, or Scrabble played by both men and women. (Various times and places)

Fashion Memories  presents vintage fashion shows to various organizations. Members model and care for the clothing collection. (Various times and places as scheduled)

Knife and Fork  has a short meeting at St. Mark’s, then dines at an announced local restaurant.

La Paz Book Review  shares a book review and discussion led by a present or former church staff member. (4th Thursday, 10:00am, Room E-5)

NOW (New Order of Wisdom)  
is a study group which uses UMW resources. (1st Tuesday, 10:00am, E-26)

Scrap ‘n Craft  works on scrap-booking or individual crafts. (Last Friday, 5-10:00pm, home or Grace Café)

Sewing and Craft  welcomes women to sew or to work on your own or a group project for part or all of the day (Wednesdays, 9:00am - 4:00pm, Room E-5).

Shalom  has varied programs, activities, and service projects. (3rd Monday, 7:00pm. various locations)

Susanna Wesley  meets in homes with varied programs and activities as well as spring and Christmas luncheons. (4th Wednesday, 10:00am, homes)

Underground  meets with various programs, activities and service projects. (2nd Thursday, 7:00pm, Room A-2)
