So far, it appears that the damage and death toll in Chile will prove far less severe than in Haiti, despite the fact that the Chilean quake last weekend was, by some ways of measuring these events, 500 times more powerful than the quake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12.

Under God: America's Foreign Policy 's God Gap

 American foreign policy is handicapped by a God gap, a narrow, ill-informed and "uncompromising Western secularism" that feeds religious extremism, threatens traditional cultures, and fails to engage and encourage religious groups that promote peace, human rights and the general welfare of their communities.
