St. Mark’s Food Closet

Offers free, fresh and perishable foods, as well as various pantry items, to local families and individuals on an as-needed basis.  Food distribution operations run on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Recipients also are referred to neighboring food banks, Cal-Fresh and other community resources

St. Mark’s Community Breakfast

A dynamic and interactive ministry and program that aims to build social, emotional and spiritual bridges among Sacramento’s homeless population, the working poor and the St. Mark’s community. Structured around the provision of a nutritious, balanced and hearty meal on (usually) the last Saturday of the month, the breakfast experience draws upon collaborative culinary efforts, musical and seasonal entertainment, social interaction and compassionate hospitality.

The 2016 Community Breakfast schedule is as follows:

  • January 30
  • February 27 
  • March 26
  • April 30
  • May 28 (Memorial Day Weekend) 
  • June 25
  • July 30
  • August 27 
  • September 24 
  • October 29
  • November 19 
  • December 17

A typical Community Breakfast schedules includes the following:

  • 7:30am to 9:30am – Food preparation, cooking, baking and room set-up
  • 9:30am to 11:30am – Food/meal service, entertainment and socializing
  • 11:30am to 12:30pm – Wrap up and clean up

Helpers are encouraged to engage for a couple hours of work or for the full duration of the event, as personal schedules and interests permit.
